Having a 9-5 Job is OK
You go online these days and everyone seems to want to run their own business.
Everyone seems to be some sort of influencer or someone who has a side hustle.
Yes, running your own business can have great perks. You can be your own boss. You can work when you want. You can work where you want. But the reality is, is that it takes a lot of sacrifices to even get into that position. Not only that, but to continue running a successful business, you can easily end up working longer hours than you would in a regular 9-5 job.
I thought I would do a blog on this, as having side hustles or running your own business is often glamorised online. You see influencers post a picture of their laptop on some fancy yacht, and automatically think “this is the life”. However, the truth is, is that 99% of people who have their own business are probably working longer hours or more stressed than you in your regular 9-5 job.
Of course, there is nothing wrong with aspiring to have your own business or have a side hustle. Yes, having your own business can lead to a lifestyle that has better work-life balance and more enjoyment.
However, if you are enjoying your 9-5 job or if you feel that this is fine, don’t feel forced to start a side hustle just because you see a YouTuber talking about it. Don’t let people online downplay or dampen the experience you have with a 9-5.
Not everyone needs to be an entrepreneur.
Not everyone can be an entrepreneur.
We are all unique and have our own preferences.
We all have our strengths and weaknesses. So why not work towards those, instead of working towards what society and social media tell us to do?
